We've Moved...

... to a new site! I'm trying to explore other alternatives for the class blog and I really liked what posterous.com has to offer. From now on, make sure to visit this site instead. I've imported all the old posts to our new blog but pictures didn't make it there, unfortunately.

Thank You!

A huge THANK YOU for the gifts, flowers and cards I received this year. Everything is perfect! I can't wait to drink tea and coffee in my new cup and wear my new necklace, scarf and fingerless gloves while looking at my Christmas tree and surfing the MEC and Chapters website. I'm sure chocolates and nuts will fuel me up for the Holiday season, too!

I made a Cookies and Cream cupcake recipe for the class yesterday and thought I'd share the recipe with you in case you wanted to try it yourself. Here's the link for it. It's super easy and fun to make.

And last but not least, I've included a few pictures of one of my rabbits, Mlle Charlotte, enjoying herself under the Christmas tree. As you will notice, gifts, lights and ornaments don't appear in the lower part of our tree. Real trees are good for them.

Mlle Charlotte recently discovered popcorn so we made a plain popcorn garland for her.

Cannelle is now 10 years old but still super healthy. She loves to pretend she's still as active as she used to be. You can see her checking out a new pair of skis on the following picture. Reminiscing all the times she's spent on the Bunny Hill, maybe?

Happy Saturday everyone! Don't forget, there's no school on Monday! :-D

The Story of Stuff

This is a great video to watch during the Holiday Season. I'd like to say my last name is Leonard but I'd be lying to you! Maybe some day our class can come up with our own version of it! :-)

Robson Square Skating

Skating was a success! A huge thank you to all parents who accompanied us on this outing. Some students were using public transportation for the first time and everyone behaved extremely well. I apologize in advance if some faces are missing. I tried to get a picture of everyone but it's possible I've missed a few students as some were way too fast on skates.

Wrapping Lesson

Two days left before the Winter Break. Are you excited?

Here's a little something that will make you smile, I hope. :-)

Art Show

I've been wanting to share a few pictures with you but there's always something else to post instead.  Here they are, at last. Enjoy!

Responsibilities - December 12-16

Here's this week's responsibility chart. Friday's sweeping job has now been assigned to Katie Anne as David will be absent that day. Please note that aside from sweeping, all other responsibilities can be done during the day.

Last week's results are in for 'desk maintenance'!

On a different note, I wanted to thank all Division 3 students for helping out with the Christmas hampers. We spent last Thursday afternoon helping out a few parents and we all had a great time. I'm very proud of you all!

Responsibilities - December 5-9

I'm going back the old school way and making my own posters, without the use of technology. Results for week 1 can be seen on the following picture.

This week, I will be adding a new responsibility to the list: the cloakroom! The following picture will give you a better idea of what this area looks like on a "not so bad" day.

P.S. No, you're not hallucinating. It really is a hair brush you see on the floor. Hallucinate was a new French word we've learned in class so I needed to use it!

"Go to Bed Early Challenge" - Wednesday and Thursday

Don't forget about the challenge! Sunday night doesn't count but you should still try to go to bed at a reasonable hour. Post your time in the "Comments" section, if you remember it!

Self-Regulation

Self-regulation is one of the many topics being discussed in schools right now. If you've never heard of this term before, you may want to read the following article first.

(not the greatest but can be helpful to some)

I also invite you to watch the following webcast (link just below). Dr Stuart Shanker, one of Canada’s leading expert on self-regulation, is taking part in the discussion.
"Self-Regulation... What is it and why is it important for learning?"

And last, here's an interesting article I also found online. It's a bit long but extremely interesting.
Don't - The Secret of Self-Control (The Marshmallow Experiment)

Have a great evening everyone!

School Blog

Great news, our school is now using the blog format! Many students have noticed it today, as they were in the computer lab. I heard a few "Whoa!", and it made me smile. :-)

Make sure to check it out regularly to keep up with the news.

I leave you with a fun little video to watch. Nothing better than listening to Bach before going to bed!

Have a great night!
